Local organisers
The conference is arranged by the Tribomaterials Group at Uppsala University. Our research facilities are housed in the Ångström Laboratory, a few kilometres south of the city centre.
We have some fifty years of experience of research on tribology and surface engineering, which both are fields of applied materials science. The applications range from tough rock drilling to delicate medical implants and from mass produced components in the automotive industry to dedicated test specimens for studies of fundamental tribological phenomena. Our work strives to increase the understanding of the mechanisms of friction and wear and how these are correlated to the material properties. With this knowledge, we want to enable development of materials, surface layers, tools and components with improved tribological properties.
Nordic advisory board
The Nordic advisory board consist of scientists from institutes and universities from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The board will assist the local organisers in keeping the scientific content at a high level.
